How much does a dog walker cost? Prices, differences and a worked example
Why one walking service charges €11 and another almost €30, what you get for the money, and when a plan beats paying per walk.
How much does a dog walker cost in the Netherlands?
Expect €10 to €30 per walk. In our comparison a group walk with a walking service cost €11 to €29.50, and a 30-minute private walk €17.50 to €20. Most of the difference comes from group size, actual walking time and what's included, such as pick-up and drop-off.
There's no national price list or official average for dog walkers in the Netherlands, and most English-language price guides quote US dollars. So we put published Dutch rates side by side, with how long each walk lasts and how many dogs go along. All amounts are per dog, per walk.

Amounts as the providers publish them on their own website or platform page. Rates change; always check the provider for the current price.
Two things stand out. Sitters on a platform mostly sit at the bottom of the market. And a one-hour private walk in Amsterdam (€35) costs almost twice as much as a group hour with the pricier Hague providers (€19 to €20). Why do dog walker prices vary so much?
Price depends mostly on how many dogs the walker takes at once and how long the dogs actually walk. After that come frequency, pick-up, weekend or holiday surcharges, a second dog and VAT. The table gives an example for each, taken from the rates above.

That last row explains part of the lower prices at small providers. A Dutch business with a turnover of at most €20,000 per calendar year may opt into the small business scheme (kleineondernemersregeling, KOR) and then charges customers no VAT. Businesses outside the KOR do charge VAT; two providers in the table quote their prices including 21% VAT.

Is a monthly plan cheaper than single walks?
Yes — per walk, a plan almost always costs less, because the walker can schedule fixed days. Single walks cost more but don't tie you to anything. If your schedule changes from week to week, booking walks one at a time can still be the better choice.
Two worked examples with our own rates, using an average month of 52 ÷ 12 weeks:
- Private 60-minute walk, twice a week. As single walks that averages €225 a month (€26 per walk). On the plan you pay €205, about €20 a month less.
- Group walk every weekday. As single walks that averages €390 a month (€18 per walk). On the plan you pay €265, about €125 a month less — €12.25 per walk.

Frequently asked questions about dog walker costs
It depends on how often and which kind of walk. With us, group walks cost €60 a month (once a week) up to €265 a month (every weekday). A private-walk plan costs €80 to €295 a month, depending on length and frequency.
Per walk, yes. With us a single one-hour group walk costs €18, a single private walk €20 (30 minutes) or €26 (60 minutes). Other providers show the same pattern: in Amsterdam a group hour costs €25 and a private hour €35.
Yes. With us you can book single walks without a monthly plan, both private and group. On a plan you do pay less per walk.
We don't. We walk seven days a week and charge no surcharge at weekends or on public holidays. Some other providers do, such as an Amsterdam walking service that adds €20 on public holidays.
